About
Hi, my name is Mike Kelly and I am located at Kirrawee, near Sydney, Australia. Until April 2009 I worked for EDS as an IT specialist but have been made redundant as a result of the takeover by HP, so I need a project to occupy my time. I am very comfortable with electronics and tinkered with cars a bit in my youth. Originally I was planning to build an EV (electric vehicle) but have now been bitten by the locost bug and currently planning my first build as a retirement project. It may still turn out to be an EV but the cost of Lithium Ion Phosphate batteries would need to drop substantially from the current AU$11,000.
The car I plan to build will be based on the Chris Gibbs book “Build your own Sports Car on a budget”, but adapted to parts which are available in Australia, and also Australian Design Rules for cars.
